La Rappresentanza in Italia della Commissione europea organizza, con il Comune di Napoli e la Regione Campania, sotto l’Alto Patronato del Presidente della Repubblica, un Forum della società civile, dedicato alla lotta alla povertà e all’esclusione sociale.
Trecento partecipanti, italiani ed europei, si confrontano sui temi della nuova agenda sociale europea. Un’occasione di dialogo e di confronto tra la società civile, le istituzioni e il mondo accademico, in vista delle iniziative dell’Anno europeo 2010, dedicato dal Parlamento europeo e dal Consiglio UE, alla lotta alla povertà e all’esclusione sociale.
Intervengono al Forum, tra gli altri: Gianni Pittella, vice presidente del Parlamento europeo, Antonio Tajani, vice presidente della Commissione europea, Antonio Bassolino, presidente della Regione Campania, Mara Carfagna, ministro per le Pari opportunità, Rosa Russo Iervolino, sindaco di Napoli, Rita Levi Montalcini, senatrice a vita, Alfredo Pallone, eurodeputato della Commissione parlamentare affari economici e monetari, Raffaele Tangorra, direttore generale della DG Inclusione e Diritti sociali del Ministero del Lavoro, della Salute e delle Politiche Sociali, Crescenzio Sepe, Arcivescovo di Napoli, Guy Standing, docente dell'Università di Bath e Co-Presidente Basic Income Earth Network, Ludo Horemans, presidente dello European Anti Poverty Network.
